A master of his craft ! Absolute legend
Wilko Johnson. What a Great bloke .. and a legend. So much fantastic music over the years to enjoy because of Wilko Johnson and all the members of Dr Feelgood. Live long and prosper Wilco.
From a golden moment in 1975 when I first heard Wilko's sound, I've been captivated. We formed a Dr. Feelgood band of our own, and had the happeist times in County Kerry in Ireland warming our fans to the "down-up, down-up", 12-Bar simplicity that is the wonderful Rhythm & Blues. Thanks for everything, Wilko. I am forever grateful for your inspiration into a life of happy music. "I loved mah woman, but she done me wrongggg..!!" :~)
So lucky that Wilko drinks in my local pub. Great bloke and a true legend
What a great guy...
Legend. He will be missed.
I always remember when I bought a record called "stupidity" when I was a student back in 1986 - 1987. I was just begining learning guitar that days and I haven't succeeded to played one single track of this album. It Seemed to me that an alien was playing. And it's true Wilko is from outer space ! He's my guitar hero forever !

WILKO!!! The man! the legend!
Wow, Wilko makes it seem so easy, want to go and buy a guitar and amp now
The mans a God. The wife thinks I'm mental. I've been doing down up for three Years now. Not quite got it... but I will.
Fun lesson and that flesh on string tone is fantastic…I agree with the whole keep the right hand moving and use the left hand to make "clicks" and "dings" (what he calls "stabs"...I name the sounds after what I call the sounds of the triangle, which you play the same way as the guitar except you move the left hand the opposite way to choke/release)…That's the way to play funk, model your guitar sound on a percussionist's sounds.
WIlko Number 1 !!
Such a character!!!!
Seen him at the albert hall, for his 70th, still with us thank God, still touringm May he long continue.
Already a legend.
Epitomizes the joy of music and life. Had me smiling along...... so wonderful
Hi Wilko.. Thanks for Your good guitarplay, and exellent humor, and good happy atitude ! .. Marvelous :-) Best regard from Denmark !
The discussion started with an ad featuring Samuel L. Jackson.
Profanities aside (I'm reasonably sure he can speak without them...), I'd have loved to hear a narration of Wilko's technique or interview between the two...
Thank YOU so very very Much Wilko ! ! Best regards from Denmark.
Wilco is simply brilliant. Inspirational. Three chords, and downup downup. Very sad to hear of his illness. Now we know how to do this we have to 'keep doing it'!
Love this style.
Absolutely awesome! Waaaay cool.
We ripped this sound of mercilessly on our single Bless This House - lovely to see the master explain all the little tricks :)
First band I ever saw was the Pirates. Mick Green was awesome, Wilko's technique is different, but similar. I won't bother with who was better, they're both brilliant.
Wilko you're so wrong mate, it's not simple.... You're a feckin genius man. A loveable one too ;)
Thanks for all the music ,you say its easy but I have never heard anyone come close
remember, the right hand goes down up down up.
Get's on yer nerves don't it!!! Hmmmmm MMMM mmm
I could listen to this for hours!
God bless you Wilko
If you like good rnb check out Charlie croker and the Providers on you tube, tracks like the croker, can't get enough, cab driver, bubble car , 991/2 and others are the dogs
Absolutely brilliant Wilko
The English Steve Cropper. Just as important. Just as influential.
Is that too loud? cause i don't care! ha ha awesome
Wilko Johnson, the Einstein of guitar playing.
Good to see Ser Ilyn Payne thrashing on the guitar
Such a nice guy. He should really stay for a few more drinks, ... stabs, ... SONGS!
Great demo..yes it looks simple, but you've got to have the feel for it..and Wilko's got that for sure. Saw him just the other day at Lunar Festival, and he was on cracking form...it was the 3rd time I've seen him (1st time was with Doctor Feelgood a long, long time ago)...and always worth going to see...a true legend.
Wilko. Humble great man. I don't even know you but I love you
What a fucking Tard.
Good on you Wilko! An original and an inspiration.
Wilko is the man!
down up Wilco! what a legend
明日の大阪めっちゃ楽しみ Wilko. You are an eternal guitar hero!
Genius. If you are a teenager - sell all your worldly goods and buy a telecaster and practice this until your fingers bleed.
So easy to understand, so hard to play.
Thanks Wilko, you’re great!
Wilko, all the best for a full recovery, can't wait to see you and the boys playing again.
love it wilko
I understand down up part but where those riffs come ? With bare fingers he got steel skin.
Interviewer is just making stupid noises.
"Ok, then i'll try!! thank you mr. Johnson!!"
3 hours later: lost 2 fingers, lost the patience, lost a pick, gained parkinson disease
A true legend. One thing though, he looks like he has Bells Palsy here on the left side of his face. Not sure if this was known at the time, or if I'm being silly.
He makes that look easier than it is!
This glorious man is cancer free. What a legend.
Wilko, one of my biggest guitar idol ever;) Hank.
1st Live concert I went to, was DR Feelgood , in the Glasgow Apollo in 1975. Wilko memorised me , the way he he could add a lick, while doing that constant strum ! At the time I was a roady for my pal Billy Rankin, and he had an H+H IC 100w combo . years later I bought one.................I sleep easy now :)
